Gold Star park is a little park that is twenty minutes away from my house in Wetumpka. I grew up going to that little park. A lot has changed since I was little; there used to be just a little playground that consisted of a tire swing and a slide that was always covered in spider webs. Now they have a better playground that's making everyone forget about the old one on the hill next to the old log cabin and drift wood carving shop. There didn't used to be so many walkways (even though the new walkway is just a straight line from one end of the park to the other) now the walkway leads into the other side of the park.
I don't remember it being so littered, mainly because I was too young to remember the first few years of going there, but now it seems like people want to litter since they just put trashcans everywhere. It used to be a peaceful place, but now there's too much recreational activity with boaters that it gets too loud to find peace and enjoy the scenery. They hold boating competitions there and Crater Fest which makes it hard to walk your dog and bring your children to the playground. It used to be easy to find a day to go to the park without too many people being there, now there's hardly a day where there's even three families just walking around.
Feeding the ducks was the best part of going to the park when I was a kid. There used to be a lot of nice ducks that you could feed without a problem until the dang geese showed up, there mean as heck to the poor little ducks that just want to get fat off bread.
I used to love going to Gold Star park, but ever since they made all those changes it hasn't been so fun. I can't even walk my anti-social fat dog to make him lose weight because all the people want to stop and pet him, I don't like that and neither does my dog. I just don't like going anymore.
